We will provide each child with 1,000 lei per month until the age of 18, and the of social protection sector will be a priority on the agenda of the President, independent candidate for the office of President Tudor Ulyanovski stated in an electoral debate held by IPN News Agency. He assured that if he becomes President, the Republic of Moldova will have a clear defense strategy so that every citizen feels safe, and the national army becomes a modern and efficient one.

The independent candidate noted that as head of state, he will submit legislative initiatives aimed at encouraging the increase in the birth rate and ensuring decent living for the elderly.

“The citizens of the Republic of Moldova to whom I talked in recent years, from outside and inside the country, give grade “2” to the current government for healthcare and social protection. We urgently need changes and the program of Tudor Ulyanovski’s team stipulates concrete solutions to remedy the problems in the social and healthcare sectors. First of all, it is necessary to increase the birth rate. The child benefit in our country will be 1,000 lei until the age of 18, not until the age of three as now. In addition, the fact that the retirement age for women was increased up to 63 years old, as for the men, is not fair. We need to restore the age of 60 and the state should get more involved to guarantee decent living in retirement. The pension of 2,700 lei does not represent at all the real economic situation in the Republic of Moldova, as don’t the high gas bills that the people pay today, which are higher than in Italy, Romania or any other European country,” said the candidate for President

Tudor Ulyanovski noted that as a diplomat, he will discuss with all the foreign partners of the Republic of Moldova to ensure foreign markets and investments. The economic development will boost the increase in people’s quality of life by ensuring higher pensions and salaries.

“The social assistants who work with people with disabilities must receive not only higher salaries, but also bonuses for the inhumane conditions in which they work. The basic salary has been increased to 4,000 lei, but a teacher from Balti who has been working at a high school for 25 years tells me that the basic salary was raised, but the teacher’s salary remained 5,200 lei. This is awful and much clearer involvement is needed. We have a clear program that we placed on our website and on our pages in the social media,” stated Tudor Ulyanovski.

He also said that as the supreme commander, he will ensure the modernization of the National Army. His priority as President will be the reunification of the country by ensuring the pullout of the Russian military forces that stay illegally on the left bank of the Nistru.

“In the Republic of Moldova, we lack a clear defense and security strategy. The strategic element is missing. We don’t have to be armed to the teeth. We must ensure that we have a prepared army, equipped with the latest technologies and that we are safe at home. Is the Republic of Moldova today a neutral state if Russian troops and ammunition continue to be present without our consent? I was the only minister who managed at the UN to achieve a victory against the Russian Federation. I managed to get the support of the UN countries for the complete withdrawal of Russian troops. But after this, we can have discussions with Tiraspol to reintegrate the country,” explained the independent candidate.

The series of debates entitled “Analyzing electoral demand and offers” are conducted by IPN News Agency during October 8-10, 2024, with support from the German Marshall Fund of the United States and the European Union.

The third debate, scheduled for Thursday, October 10, will involve Vasile Tarlev, nominated by the Party for the Future of Moldova, Ion Chicu, nominated by the Party for Development and Consolidation of Moldova, and Octavian Țîcu, candidate of the electoral bloc “Together”.
