Independent candidate for President Tudor Ulyanovski says that the European ambassadors accredited to the Republic of Moldova no longer have a constructive attitude and are “in a deep strategic error regarding the Republic of Moldova”, with immediate effects not only on the ongoing presidential campaign and referendum campaign, but especially on the country’s European project on the medium-to-long term.

In an open letter addressed to the European resident ambassadors, Tudor Ulyanovski says that the main error is that today, the ambassadors, in the height of the presidential campaign, equate the idea of European integration with one person – Maia Sandu. “It is personalization that is not allowed in diplomacy and international politics, an absurd and even dangerous simplification in the medium term and even in the short term,” the candidate said in a news conference hosted IPN.

He also said that those who support the pro-European project, but do not support Maia Sandu are constantly attacked, although they are the ones without whom the European project will never pass the 50% mark in the Republic of Moldova.

According to Tudor Ulyanovski, the diminution of pro-European enthusiasm among the population is one of the effects of this reductionist attitude. During Maia Sandu’s tenure and during the PAS government, the largest number of Moldovans left the Republic of Moldova since the country’s independence, but the percentage of pro-Europeans decreased in four years from about 62% to 54% and continues to decrease.

“How do you explain this decrease concurrent with the closure of Russian television channels and Russian disinformation sites on the territory of the Republic of Moldova? How can it be that despite Russian propaganda and television channels, the pro-European option was higher four years ago than today, when the Republic of Moldova and the PAS government closed Russian television channels and Chisinau became a place of pilgrimage for almost all European leaders?”, said the candidate.

Tudor Ulyanovski believes that the results of the presidential election will be the ultimate test and the main test of the debate and approach on the part of the ambassadors.
