The public company "Teleradio-Moldova" (TRM) is to create a television station with national coverage that will broadcast in Russian. A group of PAS MPs came up with a legislative initiative in this regard, saying that the Moldovan citizens, regardless of what language they speak, must know and be aware of the state's policies and everything that is happening, IPN reports.

"It is true that in Moldova communication in Russian is not absent. On the contrary, there is a lot of it. It's just that, unfortunately, it often comes from unofficial sources and obscure sources, which manipulate and deceive the people," MP Eugeniu Sinchevici said at a press conference. According to the parliamentarian, many of the Russian-language sources of information are controlled and have the agenda of an aggressor state, broadcasting content that disrespects the Moldovan people.

The MP noted that an example is that of the citizens of Gagauzia, who mostly believe that the main donor to the region is the Russian Federation. But the reality is that Russia "gave exactly zero lei for Gagauzia." On the other hand, the European Union has built schools, hospitals, roads. But the people don't know about these things.

"During the referendum, false information was circulated among Russian speakers - that if the European option passed, the Republic of Moldova would be involved in the war the next day," said Eugeniu Sinchevici.

He noted that not the lack of content is the problem, but the fact that Russian speakers mostly receive false information and do not have enough sources of correct information.

"The purpose of the bill is to ensure that the information from the state reaches the citizens in any language," stressed Eugeniu Sinchevici.

Another PAS MP, Natalia Davidovici, said that the Russian-language television channel, which will have national coverage, will promote local, cultural, educational and social projects.
