The Weimar Triangle supports the European path of the Republic of Moldova.
The foreign ministers of the Weimar Triangle countries – France, Germany and Poland – adopted a joint statement whereby the signatory states express their unwavering and continuous support for Moldova on its way towards membership in the European Union. The document was issued in the context of the Ministerial Conference of the Moldova Partnership Platform, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova welcomes the joint statement, noting that the three countries congratulate the Republic of Moldova on the launch of accession negotiations with the European Union in June. The process “was made possible by democratic reforms and the courage of political leaders and determination of Moldovan citizens,” the statement says.
“We commend the progress already made and urge Moldova to stay the course,” it said, adding: “We will continue to provide assistance in this regard to ensure respect for EU fundamental values such as human rights, democracy and the rule of law.”
“We welcome Moldova’s success in repelling Russian destabilization efforts and commit ourselves to strengthening Moldova's resilience and capabilities to fight other threats posed by Russia,” the foreign ministers said.
Germany, Poland and France also commit themselves to providing assistance to the Republic of Moldova in order to strengthen its security and defense capabilities.
“We believe that EU membership is the best way to ensure that Moldova becomes a modern, developed and secure country,” reads the statement of the three Weimar Triangle states.
The MFA welcomes the recognition by France, Germany and Poland of the progress made by our country on the European path and reaffirms the Moldovan authorities’ firm commitment to complete the reforms necessary for accession to the European Union.
