Transnistria’s exports and imports in June declined

The Transnistrian region in June this year exported goods to the value of US$21 million, down 73% compared with the corresponding period last year. In June 2008, exports totaled US$77.3 million.
Seventy-six Transnistrian economic entities over January-June this year performed export operations, while 44 performed import operations, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry of Reintegration of Moldova.
During the first half of the year the exporters made 5,897 customs declarations, as against 14,325 in the same period last year.
The importers submitted 1,595 customs declarations (38% of them by SA Tirotex), as opposed to 2,230 over the first half of last year.
The exports from Transnistria declared at Moldova’s Customs Service during January-June 2009 added up to US$153.7 million, which is only 53.7% of the exports from the same period of 2005.
Exports of metallurgical products fell by 79.2%, of products from the car and electrical appliances industry – by 66%, of alcoholic products – by 50%, of light industrial products - by 21.5%.
Exports to the European Union made up 57.3% of the total exports, while to the Commonwealth of Independent States – 26.2%.
The January-June imports into Transnistria totaled US$39.1 million, down 42% compared with corresponding period last year (US$67.2 million). 82.5% of the imports declared at the Customs Service of Moldova were imports coming from the EU member states.
