The discussions with Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, also focused on the preparation of the visit to Moldova of the OSCE Chair-in-Office, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Malta Ian Borg, IPN reports.

The officials conferred on the recent developments in the Transnistrian file, including the gradual adjusting of the work of the region’s economic agents to the national legislation, the European integration of the Republic of Moldova, as well as the regional security context.

“At the same time, there were expressed concerns about the precarious state of human rights in the eastern districts of the country and the abusive persecution of citizens by Tiraspol, the call on the OSCE Mission to Moldova to make an active contribution to achieving tangible progress on this dimension being reiterated,” reads a press release issued by the MFA.

Minister Popșoi reaffirmed Chisinau’s firm commitment to promote a peaceful and political settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, as well as to preserve a calm and predictable security atmosphere in the region, including in cooperation with the strategic partners.
