The external public debt and publicly guaranteed debt increased in November by USD 37.34 mln, up to the level of USD 813.89 mln. The assumption of Transnistria’s debt by Chisinau Government to the Russian Government in the amount of USD 55.94 mln was the main contribution to the increase in the external debt. The total increase in foreign debt was not proportional to the assumed debt, as in November the Government repaid the sum of USD 20.65 mln. At the same time, it used USD 2.05 mln from foreign loans taken out previously. Chisinau Government has assumed Transnistria’s debt within the mechanism for rescheduling debts to the Russian Federation, as outlined in the agreement with the Paris Club. In the reference month, Chisinau paid arrears totalling USD 19.05 mln, also as a result of the conditions of rescheduling the external debt through the agency of the Paris Club. According to official statistics, the private non-guaranteed credits (including interest arrears) made up USD 654.54 mln as on November 30, 2006.
