In the 384 localities of the country, where no candidate for mayor has obtained more than half of the valid votes, today the second round of elections takes place. The polling stations are open between 07.00 and 21.00, IPN reports

For the second round of the general local elections, 1,696,664 ballots were printed, of which 1,289,076 in Romanian and 407 568 in Russian. There will be 635 921 ballots for the position of Chisinau municipality general mayor.

Voters who, during the period between the first and the second round of the general local elections, have changed their domicile or residence, will be able to vote based on the same voter rolls, at the polling stations according to their residence on October 20, 2019.

At the same time, voters who have submitted an application for voting at the place of residence in the first round, can exercise their right to vote at home in the second round as well, even if they have not repeatedly submitted a request in this regard, unless they have given up this right, in the same form in which they made the request.

During the second round of local elections, an opinion poll - exit-poll type - will be conducted at the exit of the polling stations. The exercise has been ordered by the Association for Equitable Development of Moldova, in cooperation with "Poliexpert" political consulting company. Two specialized companies were contracted for the survey: Public Opinion Fund sociological research company and IMAS sociological research company. The survey will be conducted at 67 polling stations within the Chisinau municipality. The results will be presented at a press conference, starting 20.55, in the conference room of IPN Press Agency.

Election campaigning is strictly forbidden. It is not allowed to conduct activities or reflect materials with political campaigning intent. The appearance of candidates on television or radio programs is also prohibited.
