Friday is the last day of political campaigning for the general local elections of this Sunday. On Saturday and on election day, campaigning is not permitted, IPN reports.
The Central Election Commission warns that the appearance of election candidates in TV and radio programs on Saturday and Sunday is also banned.
Also, the local public administration and the advertising broadcasters are obliged to remove electoral advertisements. The ban does not apply to information that was already posted on the Internet.
The election contestants on these days cannot transfer money to or from the Electoral Fund accounts.
Campaigning on election silence days is punished with a fine of 2,000 to 3,000 lei in the case of private individuals and of 5,000 to 7,500 lei in the case of legal entities.
