“The election by the American people is a democratic exercise that I hope will mobilize us too this Sunday, when we will elect the future President of the Republic of Moldova,” stated President Nicolae Timofti. In a message posted on a social networking site, the President says he has followed the presidential elections in the United States since morning, alongside U.S. Ambassador James Pettit.
“I’m sure that our relations with the United States will maintain an upward trend, while the support for democracy, the rule of law and the European course of the Republic of Moldova will be felt in the common projects that will follow. Through this way, I offer my sincere congratulations to the newly elected President of the United States, Mister Donald J. Trump,” said Nicolae Timofti.
Republican candidate Donald Trump won the presidential elections in the U.S. by gaining at least 274 electoral votes of the minimum 270 required. He thus became the 45th President of the United States.
