Three lawyers from Chisinau City Hall arrested for taking bribe

Three lawyers from the Chisinau City Hall have been caught in the act and arrested for taking bribes, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) Press Service. According to the source, officers of the Transborder and Informational Offences Department within MAI arrested in the act three lawyers from the Chisinau City Hall at the moment when they were receiving bribe of 1500 lei. Valentina Garabadjiu, Carolina Lungu and Radion Starcea, have been caught unawares while they were taking the money from the administrator of a company. The money has been given to top the lawyers from sending a petition to the Alimentation, Trade and Services Department concerning the discovered violations at the company. On Monday, City Hall Legal Department head Ghenadie Gluscenco denied the fact that the lawyers were arrested by police, stating that the problem is related to “private issues”. If the officials are found guilty they risk a punishment from 3,000 to 5,000 conventional units or imprisonment for a 5 to 10 year term, without the right to hold certain offices for a term from 2 to 5 years.
