Moldova will have to implement reforms in three of four critical areas in the period between the initialing of the Association Agreement with the EU and its signing, announced EU's Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy  Stefan Fule, IPN reports.

The European official said, at a video-conference with Moldovan and Georgian reporters on Monday, that the areas in which further reforms are expected will be included in a declaration endorsed by the Council of foreign ministers. Based on this, benchmarks will be proposed to evaluate progress at implementing the Association Agreement.

Progress in critical areas will be measured using an Association Agenda, an upgraded version of an Action Plan. The document will contain concrete measures and will be also made available for the large public.

Following the Agenda's signing, the next stage will be to create bilateral structures to monitor implementation.

Whereas in the case of Ukraine discussions focused on creating conditions for the Agreement to be signed, in the case of Moldova and Georgia discussions have advanced to what conditions need to be created for the effective implementation of such agreements, stressed Stefan Fule.

Moldova, alongside Georgia, is expected to initial the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement at the Eastern Partnership's Summit, to take place in Vilnius on  November 28 and 29.
