There are no reasons for the American company Kroll to refuse to continue the investigation into the theft of billions of lei from the Moldovan banking system even if the report was made public without its consent. Such statements were made in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Dumitru Ursu, chairman of the Bankers League of Moldova, considers that if it is asked to, Kroll will continue the investigation into the stealing. “Kroll’s reaction to the publication of the report was modest. I don’t think that this will affect the further cooperation with this company,” he stated.

Media analyst Cristian Tabara also believes that Kroll will accept to carry out the second stage of the investigation. “I don’t think something scandalous happened by publishing the report. It would have been much more serious if the report had been published anonymously. There was justified public interest in the Kroll report. A number of myths had appeared and they said that billions of dollars had been stolen, the stealing being named ‘the theft of the century”,” said the journalist.

Expert of the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul” Corneliu Ciurea said he was less optimistic about the elucidation of this case and the return of the money. “The money is restored with great difficulty. If the authorities manage to return this money, the people will begin to have confidence in the state institutions,” he stated.

In an answer to the portal “Mold-Street.com”, the administration of the American company Kroll says the publication of the report concerning the frauds committed at the three banks could compromise the performance of the second phase of the investigation and its efficacy.
