The Moldovan State University (USM) has inaugurated a new building which will host the law faculty students on Friday, September 1. The same building also hosts the European Studies University headquarters.
The lights of Vasile Tarlev, prime-minister, Victor Tvircun, minister of education and youth, Victor Stepaniuc, chairman of the specialized parliament commission, and other official persons attended the inauguration. During the presentation, the prime-minister mentioned the importance of good training for legal representatives, stressing that the biggest drawbacks that the R. Moldova is facing in the process of fulfilling the RM-EU action plan come from the judicial reform.
The rector of USM, Gheorghe Rusnac told mass-media that the building was bought via an auction and that the reconstruction works started in 2000. He believes that by putting the new building into operation, the university has tried to correspond to the rigors of the 21st century and create better conditions for the training of specialists.
According to him, USM spent 58 million lei for the reconstruction of the estate. Approximately 13 million lei were allocated by the European Studies University, which owns up to 15% of the space of the building.
In total, there will be 5000 students using the facilities, in two shifts. Rusnac also declared that, if the university will be able to purchase unused fields in the surroundings of the building, then hostels will be built on the spot.
The new building is situated on the Iablocochin Street, in the Sculeni micro-district of the capital city.
