The Republic of Moldova has been included in the list of the most at-risk countries of the world

The Republic of Moldova is placed at the bottom of a rating of the world’s failing countries in 2006, sharing with China, which has the same ranking, the 57th and 58th positions. The rating includes data on 60 countries and was calculated by the Foreign Policy Magazine and the research center Fund for Peace.
According to Washington Profile the rating was calculated following 12 indicators – political, economic, military and social, etc. In particular, was taken into consideration the demographic situation, human rights abuses and other features.
According to the research, among the least stable countries are listed Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Zimbabwe, Chad etc. Of the states from the ex-soviet region Uzbekistan is 23d in the list, Kyrgyzstan 28th. Russia is placed 43d, Belarus 50th and Georgia is has the 60th position in the list.
According to the authors the study presents the chances of a state to become “failed”, meaning the country can not control properly its territory and can not ensure the necessary level of security.
