                                   and encourages the dialogue between the Government and the citizens



December 15, 2011, Chisinau.
The e-Government Center launched the updated version of the government open data portal date.gov.md 


The portal includes information generated by government institutions, such as information on budget spending or information about embassies and consulates existing in the country. Based on these data, companies, organizations or individuals can develop own applications and analyses designed to contribute to improving the quality of citizens’ lives and developing the business environment.

„The new version of date.gov.md portal is interactive one. It enables citizens to easily access sets of data, to request certain information which they find useful, to express their opinion and suggest the directions of platform improvement. The voices of citizens can be heard by ministries, and the dialogue between the authorities and citizens is extremely important in order to open the data which are useful for public opinion”, stated Irina Tisacova, Open Data Coordinator of e-Government Center.

In parallel with the launch of the new version of date.gov.md portal, is also launched the web version of Public Procurement Database (BOOST). This application provides an easier viewing of data structured per years, sectors, types of procurement, economic categories and regions. For more details, please, see www.moldova.wb-boost.org 

These two launches are part of the Program for opening government data, the main goal of the Program is to raise interest towards Open Government Data ant their use.   

The open data portal is the expression of interest of the Government of the Republic of Moldova to develop a transparent government and implement the innovations in supporting economic opportunities for citizens. 

The initiative of the Republic of Moldova joins the global effort supported by many countries in the framework of the Open Government Program. 

European Commission recently launched a strategy which is applicable for Open Data in Europe, which should boost the EU economy, bringing benefits in an amount of 40 billion EURO each year. For more details, please, see:
