The Ministry of Reintegration expresses a profound worry regarding taking hold by force of the Varnita village port by the force structures of the Transnistrian region, event that took place on April 21 is presented in a declaration of the ministry, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “We are alarmed of the inactivity of the peace-keeping mission, fact that can not be considered otherwise than tacit support of the violent intervention of the Transnistrain regime. In this context, we want to make clear the mismatch with reality of the recent declarations of the Defence Ministry of the Russian Federation, Serghei Ivanov, according to whom only the Russian peace-keeping mission is capable to maintain a peaceful settlement process. We are the witnesses of their incapacity to ensure the security and to halt the actions of the paramilitary troops in the Security Zone”, is mentioned in the document. The minister appeals to all the mechanism that activate on the basis of the Agreement from July 21 1992 to undertake urgent actions in order to stave off the infringements in the Security Zone, fact that will contribute to the stabilization of the situation and will prevent the total discrediting of the peace-keeping forces. More, the ministry attentions the participants to the negotiation process about the systematic infringements in the Security Zone and in this context it solicits the urgent initiation of the mechanism elaboration process that would guarantee stability and security in the region. The authorities from Tiraspol justify taking hold of the port from the Varnita village by the Transnistrian force structures by the need to stop the theft of its goods. The Transnistrian authorities consider the port a subdivision of the port from Bender that is subordinated to the Transnistrian regime. The authorities from Chisinau state the port is held on lease by a Moldavian commercial firm; it does not submit to the Bender port and is under the Moldavian jurisdiction as the entire Varnita village.
