The lawyer Veaceslav Turcan claims that he will send diapers to the Minister of Justice, the president of the Supreme Court of Justice and the chief sanitary doctor of the R. Moldova. The lawyer hopes that at least in this way he will be able to make the respective officials more sensitive to one of the major problems of the courts in the R. Moldova – the lack of public toilets. During a press-conference organized on Thursday, September 21, Turcan told the story of a citizen of the Swedish Kingdom, aged 76, taking part as a witness in a trial held at the end of August, at the Buiucani court. During the judicial session, the old woman said that she wanted to go to the bathroom, after which the judge announced a 5 minute recess. According to the cited source, none of the six stories of the court building had a functional toilet, all of them being locked. Only after 30 minutes, somebody unlocked the door of the 6th floor WC with a personal key. The lawyer claims that if a justice court hasn’t got a working toilet, than it cannot be accepted for sessions, and such institutions need to be closed until a clean toilet accessible to all can be ensured. The cited source also mentioned that this state of affairs is present in other courts as well, both in the Chisinau municipality and in the rest of the country. Veaceslav Turcan announced that he addressed an appeal on this issue to a number of officials, among which are: the minister of Justice, the president of the Supreme Court of Justice, and the chief sanitary doctor of the R. Moldova, and in order to mobilize them to solve the matter rapidly, he will also send them a diaper each.
