The Government will revise the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (EGPRSP) Paper, by actualizing and revising some goals. About this the deputy minister of Economy and Commerce Sergiu Sainciuc declared on June 19 within the work laboratory „Synergy between EGPRSP and the Action Plan Moldova-EU”. According to Sainciuc, the present foreign conjuncture is endangering some goals of EGPRSP, justifying in this way the revision. He explained these changes by the fact that the economy of Moldova depends at a great extent on the foreign market. Present at the event, the head of IDIS “Viitorul”, Igor Munteanu declared that, the Strategy must “be cleaned of the unnecessary empty words, because at present EGPRSP looks like a common work plan, definitely not a strategy”. The work laboratory was organized by the Cooperation section of the Swedish embassy in Bucharest. The event is a part of a consultation process of the Swedish mission. The major goal of the Swedish country mission is to obtain relevant information and to manage the next cooperation Strategy with the Republic of Moldova. The Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper was approved by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova in December 2004. EGPRPS is a medium-time development strategy of the Republic of Moldova which includes actions the Government must undertake for reducing poverty.
