Ritlabs SRL has released a new version of their secure email client, The Bat!, introducing new features and a more user-friendly interface. The upgrades make The Bat! more convenient and secure, and easier to use and navigate, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the company, the most anticipated feature of this version is the “Create New User Account” capability. To utilize this capability, users now only have to enter their full name, email address and password to create a new account. Settings such as incoming and outgoing server address and ports are now fully automatic.

An additional feature is the automatic selection of AutoCharset. This encoding element saves emails in the most appropriate encoding system, which reduces the risk of the receiver not being able to render an email correctly. This feature will become an indispensable instrument in the correspondence with partners from Asia.

Significant effort was made to make sure that The Bat! can correctly create and render emails with Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters. This is very important now that the Asian countries extend their business relations with such states as Russia, the U.S. and Moldova. Even if there are many encoding elements for sending hieroglyphs, many users face problems related to compatibility and correct rendering of characters. Such problems usually appear in the case of Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters owing to the absence of a common encoding standard.

Also, the users enjoy the unique possibility of setting specific encoding for a particular email contact. For example, for an addressee using simplified hieroglyphs, one can specify the GB2321 encoding, while for an addressee using traditional hieroglyphs – the BIG5 encoding.
