The police reported a tense situation in Varnița village of Anenii Noi district, where a number of veterans and locals tried to bar the access of Transnistrian voters to a polling station, IPN reports.
General Police Inspectorate deputy head Marin Maxian in a press briefing said that no cases of organized transportation of voters have been reported by now.
In Varnița yet, a number of veterans and locals tried to hamper the activity of a polling station, blocking voters’ access. The police intervened and things are kept under control, the access to the polling station being ensured, but aggressive behavior instances are yet witnessed.
The police recorded the cases and will classify the actions legally depending on the behavior and the caused damage.
“There was also an incident caused by a person who got into an altercation with a group of citizens near a polling station housed by a lyceum. As a result, this person used teargas. The police reacted immediately and the person was identified and detained,” stated Marin Maxian.
The police are calling on the population to keep calm. Penalties will be imposed for deviations.
A number of 2,143 polling stations were established for the November 1 presidential elections. Of these, 139 are out-of country stations, while 42 are intended for the persons with the right to vote residing in the Transnistrian region, Bender municipality and some of the localities of Căușeni district.
