Tens of cars got stuck in snow piles on roads following the snowstorm. On January 17 and on the night of January 18, rescuers towed away about 20 units of transport, among which a minibus and two ambulances, IPN reports.
According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, most of the cases of blockage were reported in Causeni, Stefan Voda, Taraclia, Dubasari, Cahul and in the municipality of Chisinau. The minibus became blocked near Cioc-Maidan village in Gagauzia. Among the passengers were several minors. In all the cases, the vehicles were towed away.
The Border Police announced that a number of units of transport, including a bus with passengers, stopped in the border crossing points Tudora and Palanca for a period last night as they risked getting stuck on national and international roads.
The orange code warning for heavy snow applies to January 18 too. The northern wind was forecast to intensify to 18-23 m/s.
