The tender contest to repair Ion Creangă St in Buiucani district of Chisinau has been launched. The works will include the renovation of the roadway, sidewalks and water supply and sewerage networks and of the rotary at the intersection of Alba Iulia St and Henri Coandă St, IPN reports.
The works will cost a total of 50 million lei. A sum of 44 million lei was allocated for the works this year. The objective for 2020 is to change the water supply and sewerage networks and to put a layer on the roadway so that the vehicles could pass in winter. The works will be resumed next year when the weather permits.
“We want maximum transparency to exist and business entities of good faith to take part in the tender contest,” said mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban.
He noted that the rehabilitation of Ion Creangă St was planned as part of a previous project launched in 2018. They deviated from this project and the execution costs rose by 60%-80%. “The previous administration that was responsible for this project should be normally held accountable for these substantial deviations and departures,” stated Ion Ceban. A sum of 26 million lei was allocated for that project. Many of the works for which money was earmarked could not be even performed at that stage.
The mayor said it wasn’t taken into account the fact that the works were to include the replacement of the water and sewer pipes that are 90% worn-out.
