Ten child development cabinets were set up in localities in Ungheni and Cahul districts with the EU’s support, IPN reports. These were outfitted with furniture and medical equipment to the value of 350,000 lei. The money was allocated through the “EU4Moldova: Focal Regions” Program that is financed by the European Union.
This way, visits to the doctor for beneficiaries of the health centers in Ungheni and Cahul towns and in the villages Slobozia Mare, Crihana Veche, Măcărești, Costuleni, Pîrlița, Valea Mare and Rădenii Vechi became more pleasant.
Victoria Miclaus, head of the health center in Bucuria village of Ungheni district, said that owing to the outfitting of the cabinet with the equipment needed for medical examination, it is much easier for her to offer medical assistance to children. “It is known that the conditions in villages are not the best. Many parents do not have at home what we have here, in the cabinet. And we have everything – infant table with mattress, electronic scales, pedometer for breastfed babies, breastfeeding pillow, children’s table and chairs, washable toys, books for children and support for them,” stated Victoria Miclaus.
The“EU4Moldova: Focal Regions” Program focuses on strengthening the economic, territorial and social cohesion in the Republic of Moldova through facilitating inclusive, sustainable and integrated local socio-economic growth and improving the standards of living of the citizens in two focal regions - Ungheni and Cahul. It has a total budget of €23.3 million.
