A 14-year-old boy from the Republic of Moldova, in a serious condition, was transported to Romania by SMURD. The helicopter landed on Tuesday at 10:18 a.m. at the Dinamo Stadium in Chisinau, from where SMURD doctors and paramedics took over the patient, IPN reports, with reference to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations.

The boy was transported from the Mother and Child Institute, where he stayed for three weeks, to be taken to the Fundeni Clinical Institute in Bucharest.

Maxim Cazacu, spokesman for the Mother and Child Institute, has told IPN that the patient was transferred to Bucharest for bone marrow transplantation as Romanian doctors have experience in performing such surgery.

According to the Inspectorate, this is the fourth SMURD aero-medical operation performed for citizens of the Republic of Moldova so far this year
