Five of the people injured in the recent knife attack in the German capital are Moldovan nationals. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ press office told IPN the group includes a 15-year-old boy, two 20-year-olds, one 24-year-old and a 42-year-old man.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening in a Berlin dormitory. According to the MFA, the Moldovan Embassy in Germany is in permanent contact with the Berlin police who are investigating the case.

According to preliminary information communicated to the diplomatic mission by the Berlin authorities, the incident occurred as a result of an altercation caused by an alleged attacker, a resident of the dormitory, who had first assaulted a visitor and a security guard of the institution, and then a group of people, among whom were Moldovan citizens.

Two of the Moldovan citizens have been hospitalized for stab injuries, with the others requiring outpatient or only on-site care. All are currently out of harm’s way. The suspect was detained and is being questioned.
