Team of Moldovan sports press wins foreign Football Championship

The team of the Sports Press Association of Moldova won the trophy of the Football Championship of East European and Balkan States that was held at the Pazardjik Sports Complex in Bulgaria during June 28 – July 2, 2023, IPN reports.

The Association said the competition involved six teams that represented Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and the Republic of Moldova. It was held in accordance with the Olympic system and the teams played with each other. After Moldova demolished Bosnia and Herzegovina 5:1, Alexandru Fosa and Ion Fushtei brought a new 2:1 victory to Moldova in the match against competition host Bulgaria.

The next day, after the match with Montenegro, which ended by 0:1, the Moldovan journalists trounced North Macedonia 4:0 and Hungary 5:0. This way, Moldova ranked first with 12 points, being followed by North Macedonia and Montenegro, which both obtained by 10 points.

The team of the Moldovan sports press won the Football Championship of East European and Balkan States also in 2017 and 2019.
