The teachers are determined to interrupt the teaching process if their salaries are not increased by 50% until mid-May. Education trade unionists continued the protests in front of the Government Building today, March 28, IPN reports.

Dumitru Ivanov, chairman of the Federation of Education and Science Trade Unions, said the authorities requested the Federation’s administration not to cause tensions before the exams and to stop the protests, but forgot about the demands put forward by teachers.

“Some call on us to be calm and not to cause problems as the children have to learn and we should not try and block the exams. But this can be easily done as we do not have another solution,” stated Dumitru Ivanov, adding that the government is the one that makes the teachers resort to blocking the education process.

According to Dumitru Ivanov, the Federation of Education and Science Trade Unions has a plenary meeting on March 29, starting at 11am. This will decide the further actions in relation to the authorities.
