Teachers in the capital have not yet received their salaries for December. Deputy Mayor Olga Ursu announced about it at the city hall meeting. According to Ursu, a total transfer of about 220 million lei is expected from the Ministry of Finance, IPN reports.
"This is a very serious problem. Those in government must honor their obligations. It is regrettable that the top civil servants have raised their salaries very high compared to those of the people who take care of the education of our children, who are now also in the situation of waiting, I repeat, because of the stupidity of those in government," Mayor Ion Ceban pointed out.
Asked for a reaction, the representatives of the Ministry of Finance claim that they have informed, since last week, the representatives of local authorities that the earmarked transfers, necessary to pay teachers' salaries, will be made starting today, January 20, 2025.
According to them, although this was already known at the level of officials in charge of finance, instead of informing the concerned institutions about the timing of the transfers, the mayor general of Chisinau municipality preferred to make political statements.
So far, the State Treasury has allocated 816.5 million lei for the payment of teachers' salaries throughout the country, of which 215.5 million lei are earmarked for the Chisinau City Hall.
