Sunday is the last day on which electoral blocs may file for registration with the Cental Electoral Commission to be able to field their respective candidate at the October 20 presidential election.
On the last day, August 25, files can be submitted at the CEC headquarters from 10:00 to 17:00.
Since July 22, when the CEC started accepting applications from electoral blocs began, two such applications have been submitted.
One was from the Together Bloc, composed of the Dignity and Truth Platform, the Party of Change and the League of Cities and Municipalities. This is currently the only bloc successfully registered.
The second, unsuccessful, application was from Victorie-Победа, which the CEC found to be non-compliant for a number of reasons. The bloc’s representatives appealed, but CEC’s decision was upheld by an appellate court, with the plaintiffs intending to appeal further at the Supreme Court.
