Summit 2023. Ana Revenco: Romania is our mentor as regards security standards

At least 1,000 persons are expected to come to the European Political Community Summit that will take place in Bulboaca on June 1, said Minister of Internal Affairs Ana Revenco. According to her, most of the states that will take part in the Summit help the Republic of Moldova in the process of ensuring the security of the event. The EPC Summit is the largest event ever hosted by the Republic of Moldova and is a unique opportunity to show to the whole world that the country deserves to be part of the European community, IPN reports.

The minister noted that the number of persons involved in the ensuring of security of European officials cannot be made public, but the event will definitely meet the highest international standards. A number of European countries have helped Moldova with expertise and technical assistance for the Summit to be held without incidents.

“It is the first event that involves so many persons, so many categories of specialists in the field of security, from food security to the security of communications, from public order to airspace security. The exact number of involved personnel is secret information. It is the first event whose activity plan is of unprecedented complexity for us. After we hold this event, we will have greater knowledge and more tested skills. The member states stand by us. Romania helps us and is our mentor as regards the security standards. France assists us in terms of airport management and aviation safety. It is something normal for the senior state officials to be accompanied by security teams,” Ana Revenco stated in the program “In Depth” on ProTV Chisinau channel.

The authorities announced that during June 1, 1am, and June 2, 7am, the citizens will not have access to the Chisinau International Airport and civil flights will be banned all over the Republic of Moldova between May 31 and June 2.

“A number of leaders announced that they will arrive in Chisinau one day earlier. That’s why the ban on civil flights will be in force from May 31. Others will come on June 1. The leavings were scheduled for June 1 and 2. The pedestrian traffic on pavements will not be restricted. We will have a total of 1,000 participants together with journalists, members of delegations. All the retail outlets, public eating places, drugstores, hospitals, policlinics will have a usual work program,” said the minister.

A number of 47 heads of state and government (27 EU members and 20 non-EU members) and also the Presidents of the European Council, the European Commission and the European Parliament were invited to the June 1 European Political Community Summit in Moldova.
