The Government will provide subsidies of up to 4 million lei in advance for developing farming and rural areas. It will also compensate the costs for diesel fuel used by farmers since last autumn. The regulations on complementary subsidization in agriculture were approved by the Cabinet on Wednesday, IPN reports.
“For young farmers, female farmers and those who returned from abroad, those who manage peasant farmsteads, the subsidies will be by 10-15% higher. Applications can be submitted to the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture,” the Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă stated in a news conference.
He noted that the state during the next five years will annually support at least 3,000 beneficiaries that will get about 13% of the Subsidization Fund. Complementary payments will be offered for stimulating the raising of investment loans, for developing organic farming, for clearing multiannual plantations, for promoting the use of irrigation systems, for counseling and training services in agriculture.
Also, complementary subsidies will be provided from the National Agriculture and Rural Development Fund for covering the excise duties on diesel fuel. The farmers will get such subsidies for the period starting from November 16, 2022, in the amount of 2,980 lei per tonne for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and of 894 lei per tonne for large producers.
For the diesel fuel used in 2023, the micro, small and medium-sized farmers will receive 100% subsidies or 3,248 lei per tonne, while the larger enterprises will get subsidies equal to 30%, which is 974 lei per tonne.
