The students of Secondary School No. 74 of Tohatin commune got poisoned by norovirus, the National Public Health Agency said after investigating biological samples taken from infected children, IPN reports.

Norovirus is transmitted directly, from person to person, or indirectly, through infected food, water and environmental surfaces following the non-observance of the hygiene rules, especially the non-washing of hands after going to the toilet.

The Agency noted the water samples taken from the school‘s cooking facilities confirmed the presence of colifags, but didn’t show the cause of infection.

Twelve children of the mentioned school aged between 7 and 15 were admitted to the Municipal Children’s Contagious Diseases Hospital with signs of food poisoning on March 6.
