Five general educational institutions didn’t open their doors to students today as well as the power supply hadn’t been restored there following the severe weather of the last few days. Another six schools held lessons online, IPN reports.
In total, 829 students attend the institutions that remained closed on Tuesday. The schedule of make-up classes will be decided by the local and municipal education divisions in concert with the school administration.
It had snowed heavily all over Moldova, primarily in the central and southern districts, since Saturday night and the high winds formed snowdrifts, blocking road sections. Over 200 localities experienced power outages. On Monday, the students of 361 primary and secondary schools and lyceums had a day off.
According to Premier Energy Distribution, 24 localities in central and southern districts of Moldova remained partially or fully disconnected from the power supply at 2:30 p.m.
