In the Republic of Moldova, over 56,700 persons study and 59.4% of them are women, while 40.6% are men, the National Bureau of Statistics said in connection with the International Students’ Day that is celebrated on November 17, IPN reports.
Some 74.1% of the students study for a bachelor’s degree, 17.8% - for a master’s degree, while 8.1% are involved in integrated studies.
About 35,800 persons study on a contract basis, while 20,900 study on a budget-funded place.
Among the most popular faculties at cycle I (bachelor’s degree) are business, administration, and law, where 37.9% of the students study. 11.8% study engineering, processing technology, architecture, and building, 11.5% – education, while 10.1% – information and communications technology.
Approximately 5,200 of the students are foreign ones. Some 44.1% of these are from Romania, 17.4% are from India, while 15.1% are from Israel.
