Restoration works of the streets on a surface of 400 thousand sq km were carried out this year in Chisinau municipality, according to the plan of expenses approved by the Municipal Council, Veaceslav Tarna, head of the Transport and Communications Division, stated on Monday, October 23, at the City Hall’s woking meeting. Till now, there were repaired such streets as Puskin, Banulescu-Bodoni, Independentei, Pan Halippa, Ismail and others. According to Tarna, the repairs will continue as long as the weather allows. At the present time, repair works are being performed on Mateevici streets, and the circulation of the municipal transport from this zone will be rerouted to other streets, Tarna added. The repair of Kogalniceanu Street is expected to be carried out this year as well. Interim mayor Vasile Ursu is unsatisfied with the fact that works of asphalting Mateevici Street were not performed last weekend. The mayor was announced by the leadership of “Edilitate” administration that the workers refused to work because of not receiving their salaries. In this respect, Ursu requested from the enterprise to present a report about the accumulated debts. He announced that 70 mln lei are allocated from the state budget for carrying out repairs in the center of the capital. Referring to the preparation for the cold period of the year, Veaceslav Tarna communicated that “Exdrupo” administration has already stocked about 13 thousand cubic meters of antiskid material. Although the specialized vehicles are used at present for asphalting the streets, the official says that the mechanisms and the equipments necessary for cleaning the snow are prepared. The Urban Bus Fleet and Electric Transport Management are in a more difficult situation. They have no sufficient financial resources to buy outer covers for tires, accumulators and necessary anti-gel for the activity in winter, added Tarna, cited by Info-Prim Neo.
