Columna street in downtown Chisinau will be closed for traffic this weekend in connection with the roadway works performed at the intersection with the pedestrian street Diordita, head of the Architecture, Urbanism and Land Relations Division Ion Carpov said in the June 2 meeting of officials of municipal subdivisions and services, quoted by IPN.
The works will start on June 6. The streets to which the units of transport will be diverted will be announced beforehand so as to avid the formation of traffic jams.
Diordita St was transformed into a pedestrian area, which will be named the Alley of Good People. 25% of the area is intended for cultural-artistic activities, exhibitions by craftsmen, concerts, exhibits of paintings, etc. The pavement there was changed. There will be set up benches and terraces and planted decorative bushes and flowers. The facades of buildings in the area will be illuminated at night.
