Two animal protection organizations accuse the Chisinau administration of extermination of animals without shelter. Oxana Cracan, of “Casa Catalina” and Valentina Dudnic, of “Alga”, told a news conference on Wednesday that many stray dogs have been lately poisoned, Info-Prim Neo reports. Oxana Cracan said that the poisoning of the dogs is an inhuman act, especially because the animals do not die immediately, but suffer in agony for several days. The children see such shocking images and might have an aggressive behavior in the future. She called on the society to be tolerant to the stray animals and help them. She also said that the problem of stray dogs can be solved by sterilization, vaccination and disinfection. For her part, Valentina Dudnic said that the poisonings are cruel acts that have repercussions on the mental condition of the Chisinau residents, mainly the young generation. She said that seven dogs poisoned by the municipal services were in agony in a yard on Mircea cel Batran Blvd. when the conference was held. Asked to offer a solution to the stray dogs problem, Dudnic said that the local public administration should not transport the dogs to the necropolis of Autosalubritate Division, but create a group of veterinarians that would neuter them. She added that among the poisoned dogs there are sterilized dogs as well. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the deputy head of IM Autosalubritate Victor Serghienco denied that the company’s employees poison the stray dogs. According to him, at the request of the Chisinau residents the flayers catch the dogs and take them to the company’s shelter and also transport the dead bodies of the animals. When conflicts appear between the dwellers that protect the dogs and those that want them to be killed, the flayers do not intervene. Serghienco considers that the stray dogs are poisoned by the people that cannot stand packs of aggressive dogs in their yards.
