The Government is not electoral headquarter or staff for compensating for foolishness of some of the candidates for President, said jurist Ștefan Gligor.

Speaking at IPN’s public debate “How to assess the promise made by a politician”, he noted: “Moldova needs a real Prime Minister with a real Cabinet that eliminates the scheme of corruption and creates preconditions for economic freedoms. In our country, the main task is to transpose the scheme to Transnistria. And if you manage to secure a parliamentary majority, to form the Government, to issue licenses to Transnistrian companies and to apply all the schemes, you will have money for the next campaign,” stated the expert.

Ștefan Gligor said the promises made by the candidates for President are the promises of persons who pretend to control the parliamentary majority. “Under the last decision taken by the Constitutional Court, the President does not have the right to pronounce if the parliamentary majority fielded the candidate for Prime Minister correctly or incorrectly. He is obliged to accept the candidate proposed by the parliamentary majority,” explained IPN projects’ standing expert.

The public debate “How to assess the promise made by a politician” was organized as part of the mini-series “We and the President: who elects who and who represents who?” that forms part of the project “Developing political culture through public debates”. IPN News Agency stages the public debates with the assistance of the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
