Statistics show that fewer foreign tourists visit Moldova

In the first 7 months of this year, the Republic of Moldova was visited by 6924 foreigners, a number that is only 80% of the same parameter of last year. According to data provided by the National Bureau of Statistics, 3802 tourists visited Moldova for business purposes, or 67,3% compared to the same amount from last year. For recreational purposes 2871 foreigners entered the country, or 103,6% compared to the same period from last year, and 251 persons, or 104,6% of last years number, visited Moldova for other purposes. Most tourists visiting Moldova are from Romania – 1252, Turkey – 953, the Ukraine – 925, Russia – 900, Germany – 357, SUA – 338, Italia – 324, Belarus - 176, UK – 131, Bulgaria – 125, France – 125, Poland – 121 etc. The number of persons leaving Moldova was approx. 22,7 thousand and this figure is by 29,1% bigger than the same parameter from last year. 3764 of these tourists are on business trips, and this number has increased 4,7-fold. 17,2 thousand Moldovans seeking leisure, relaxation and amusement abroad, or with 11,6% more persons. The trips of 1,7 thousand Moldovan citizen are for treatment or other purposes, with an increase of 26%. Most Moldavian citizens travel to Turkey – 5345, Romania – 4339, Bulgaria – 3449, Russia - 3409, the Ukraine – 2873, Poland – 868, Hungary – 429, Saudi Arabia – 326, Slovakia – 242, Greece – 206, Egypt – 187, France – 161, Germany – 122, Italy – 83, Czech Republic – 64, Israel – 52 etc.
