Pensions and other social benefits are projected to be indexed by 6.1% starting April 1, 2025. Additionally, from May 1, the minimum old-age pension will increase to 3,300 lei for individuals with a full contribution period of 40 years. For persons with disabilities, the minimum pension will rise to 2,258 lei. Parliament approved the State Social Insurance Budget Law for the upcoming year in the second reading, IPN reports.

The budget also includes increases in social benefits for families with children. The one-time childbirth allowance will rise to 21,350 lei. Over 72,000 children under the age of two will receive a monthly allowance of 1,000 lei, regardless of whether their parents are insured. Additionally, insured parents are entitled to a monthly allowance for raising a child up to the age of three, with the amount determined based on the income of the higher-earning parent.

Starting January 1, the monthly state allowance for rehabilitated victims of political repression will increase. The monthly allowance for war veterans will also rise to 1,610 lei.

Another provision includes counting partially paid childcare leave as part of the special service record for contract-based military personnel. Additionally, energy compensation will be provided in the form of monetary payments through a new compensation mechanism.

According to the document, State Social Insurance Budget (BASS) expenditures are allocated across 10 subprograms managed by the National House of Social Insurance. The largest share of BASS expenditures is allocated to old-age pensions, amounting to 30.7 billion lei, a 6.7% increase compared to the previous year.

The document projects total revenues of 46.51 billion lei, an 8.7% increase compared to the approved revenues for 2024. The same amount of 46.51 billion lei is allocated for expenditures.
