The state has initiated the procurement process for 2,500 doses of meningitis vaccine. The immunization of children with this vaccine will be at the discretion of parents. This announcement was made by the Minister of Health, Ala Nemerenco, IPN reports.

"We do not have cases that place the country in a complicated epidemiological situation, but since there are children who are hospitalized in severe conditions, it is worth fighting for each life," the minister stated to the press.

The meningococcal vaccine will be included in the National Vaccination Program as a complementary vaccine. Therefore, immunization will be carried out upon request.

"We will see how we use these doses. But I am absolutely sure that parents will want to vaccinate their children with the meningococcal vaccine," Ala Nemerenco added.

According to specialists, meningitis is an infection of the protective membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord, caused by a virus. If not treated promptly, it can lead to permanent brain and nerve damage.

Symptoms of meningitis include fever, malaise, irritability, lack of energy, headaches, muscle and joint pain, rapid breathing, seizures, vomiting, and more. Doctors urge the population to seek medical assistance at the first signs of illness to ensure timely intervention with appropriate treatment.
