The administration in Tiraspol has decided to establish a state of economic emergency in the Transnistrian region. The decision was taken by the members of the so-called security council in the context of the risk of no natural gas supplies after January 1. If there is no gas, MGRES will switch to coal. Stocks are available for 50 days, IPN reports.
"Today we have no guarantees in the forecast of gas deliveries. We have to prepare for any scenario", Tiraspol leader Vadim Krasnoseliski said.
If gas supplies to the Transnistrian region stop, the Moldovan Thermoelectric Power Plant in the Transnistrian region (MGRES) will switch to coal. Under these conditions, it will be possible to meet the electricity needs of the housing sector, social institutions and food producers for 50 days.
