The Parliament’s spring session of 2023 has come to an end. A draft decision to this effect was adopted by the MPs in the July 31 sitting, IPN reports.

In his speech, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu spoke about the work done by Parliament and the acts adopted by the MPs. According to him, these acts bring about changes for the people and bring the Republic of Moldova closer to the European Union. Igor Grosu also referred to the reforms done in the economic, justice, social, youth, health, agricultural, culture, sport and other sectors.

“We are aware that there is yet a lot to be done. We will no way deviate from the justice sector reform. The thieves and fugitives will be brought to justice. We will continue the efforts to develop our economy and agriculture. We will build the European Moldova at home for our children to have a future and to be able to live in peace and harmony in our Moldova,” stated the Speaker.

The last sitting of Parliament, of the spring session of 2023, involved only the group of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS). The MPs of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists left the sitting in protest after the parliamentary majority rejected a number of their proposals, including to exclude a series of issues from the agenda and to include the questioning of the Premier in the agenda. The independent MPs of the outlawed Shor Party boycotted the sitting.

Parliament comes together for two ordinary sessions a year. The spring session starts in February and ends in July, while the autumn session begins and September and closes in December. Outside ordinary sessions, the legislative body can come together for extraordinary or special sessions at the request of the President, Speaker or 1/3 of the MPs.
