“The author slipped to gross attacks on civil society of Moldova and emotional insinuations in relation to personalities and active organizations of Moldova probably with the intention of distracting society’s attention from the recent revelations about the political party,” Soros Foundation Moldova said in reaction to the accusations made by MP of the Party of Socialists Bogdan Țîrdea, IPN reports.

“In Mister Țîrdea’s opinion, the support for civil society, independent press, culture and entrepreneurship, people who protect human rights and those who provide medical-social services to persons with disabilities, those who contribute to improving education and many other visionaries who during tens of years have struggled for the Republic of Moldova to be a democratic, equitable and developed state is reprovable,” the Foundation noted in a press release.

It said that in the period during which corrupt politicians continuously undermined the state Republic of Moldova, civil society, together with devoted people from all the fields, played a fundamental role in preventing the collapse. “It seems that this thing bothers Bogdan Țîrdea a lot”.

According to the Foundation, civil society is a key player in the democratic development of the Republic of Moldova. The civil society organizations are the allies of the Moldovan citizens, those who work for the country’s development through daily devotion. Civil society’s vital role in limiting abuses on the part of the rulers and in protecting the basic human rights is recognized.

“Soros Foundation Moldova is one of the most active donor nongovernment organizations in Moldova, which during over 28 years has committedly supported Moldova and the residents of this country. The Foundation is an apolitical and an absolutely transparent organization that publishes its annual detailed reports by indicating all the supported activities and projects. We urge the political organizations that are financed also with taxpayers’ money to ensure similar transparency,” runs the press release.

The Foundation calls on those who are interested in its activity to find information directly on its website so as to avoid the intermediation of persons with bad intentions who are motivated by electoral calculations.
