Soroca-Balti water pipe to be extended under public-private partnership

The settlements in the districts of Soroca, Floresti Drochia, Rascani, Sangerei and Telenesti will be connected to the Soroca-Balti water pipe within a public-private partnership project. The Government Wednesday approved the decision to open talks on the given project, Info-Prim Neo reports. Minister of the Environment Gheorghe Salaru said the participation of the private capital in the water supply and sewerage sector is a successful method of attracting investments. “By the public-private partnership, we will obtain the money needed to extend the water supply system to the mentioned districts. Besides improving the public water supply and sewerage services, the number of diseases caused by water of a poor quality will decrease,” said the minister. Under the water supply and sewerage strategy and program, the number of people who do not have access to safe sources of drinking water (about 1 million) is to be halved until 2015.
