Nicolae Concescu, the son of a candidate on the Liberal Democratic Party, Dumitru Concescu, says he was ill-treated by four persons introducing them as policemen, but refusing to identify themselves.
The young man told a news conference on March 12 that, on Tuesday at about 18.00 in Drochia town, four individuals ordered him to stop his car. Using uncensored words and hitting his car with their legs, they asked his documents, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“They told me I might have problems if they find anti-Communist electoral materials or any type of electoral advertising,” Nicolae Concescu said. He said he had been struck in his face and chest when he was trying to phone someone. Then was was forced to get on the car of those four where he was posed questions. The young man say the four aggressors made him sign a statement that he had no are pretensions to them. They also asked him not to tell anyone about the incident.
Vladimir Filat, the PLDM president, believes that this action is organized by the present governance and is part of a series of intimidations to which the electoral candidates of his party are subjected since the beginning of this campaign. “We qualify this act as a move of the rulers against an electoral opponent, with the purpose to intimidate and influence the result of the elections in this spring,” Filat said.
According to the Liberal-Democratic leader, they submitted a complaint to the general prosecutor of Moldova as to the abuse detention of Nicolae Concescu, asking to penalize the police that ill-treated him.
At the same press conference, Vladimir Filat declined that his party would offer money to attendees in election rallies. “It's impossible to pay 20,000 people,” Filat said.
