The recent crimes committed in Durlesti and Cahul were a subject for discussion at the April 6 meeting of the new Supreme Security Council. “After the investigation bodies presented a report on the given crimes, they were entrusted with the task of solving them. It is a matter of professional honor. The lack of equipment and other measures aimed at optimizing the work of the law enforcement bodies cannot be an excuse for not solving a crime,” Acting President Marian Lupu, who heads the Council, said after the meeting that lasted for over two hours and a half, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Speaker said the competent bodies provided new details about the investigation into the murder of the boy and girl in Durlesti, but avoided giving details, saying the inquiry may be prejudiced. As to the crime committed in Cahul, where four young persons tortured and killed two sisters, Marian Lupu said that such cases give serious cause for concern as they are new for Moldova. “Unfortunately, we expected new types of crimes – those committed by a generation of children raised without parents,” he stated. The Acting President also said that the members of the Supreme Security Council decided to involve not only the prosecution bodies in resolving this new problem, but also the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family.
