Singer Sofia Rotaru, who started her career in music in Chisinau, through Instagram announced that she will not leave Kyiv and prays for the Ukrainian army and for peace in Ukraine.

“Independence and freedom cost. It’s true. But should the Russian rockets kill civilians, children and destroy the cities of Ukraine? These deeds tear up my heart! I’m in Kyiv! I pray for our defenders and for peace in Ukraine. I write this text and my hands are shaking. They are shaking because dreadful fighting takes place all over Ukraine. Strength and peace to everyone,” wrote the artist.

Also on Instagram, the soloist of the Ukrainian band Okean Elzy Svyatoslav Vakarchuk posted a video in which he calls on the Russians, in Russian, to stop their President Vladimir Putin. “It is a war crime. The name of the criminal is known.”

In Russia, Andrey Makarevich, who leads the band “Time Machine” – a pioneer of Soviet rock music –made a call to Vladimir Putin through Facebook: “People of science are against war. Doctors are against war. Writers, artists, film directors, actors, musicians are against war. Teachers are against war. All the ordinary people are against war. There is no other way. Who will you remain with, leader?”.
