Socialist secretary Vlad Batrîncea says his party sees no point in continuing “sterile discussions” with ACUM as long as the political bloc inflexibly refuses to accept the notion of a coalition with the Socialists.

Last Saturday’s Socialist Party convention clearly sets out the conditions for a parliamentary majority, says MP Batrîncea, and they include a functioning coalition government with a functioning government program. Parliament Socialists will stick to this line.

Vlad Batrîncea posted to Facebook that the PSRM was regretting ACUM’s “continued display of selfishness”. Anywhere else in the world, maintains Batrîncea, has a party that is only the third-largest in Parliament laid claim to both the post of Speaker and that of Prime Minister together with the entire Cabinet. Batrîncea also said that ACUM has remained deaf to any government agenda proposals from the Socialist Party.

The Socialist lawmaker further noted that only two months remained until Parliament could be dissolved and called on ACUM to “show responsibility towards the country and the people of Moldova”.

Earlier today ACUM’s leaders proposed creating a joint working group with Parliament Socialists to discuss de-oligarchization measures before eventually triggering snap elections, while stressing that this group should not be considered a coalition with the Socialists.
